Flowix vs MoTeC i2:
Which Fits Your Racing?

MoTeC i2 is professional data-analysis software from real motorsport, with fully configurable workspaces and custom maths channels, and it reads logs that a sim or a separate logger has written. Flowix records Automobilista 2, Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa EVO and RaceRoom laps by itself and analyses them in the browser, trading that configurability for almost no setup.

Flowix vs MoTeC i2 at a Glance

FeatureFlowixMoTeC i2
License / price Every feature free, AI connector included; free limits are 14-day trace storage (7 days for non-clean laps) and 500 MB; lap times and personal bests are kept forever. PRO from $5/month: 1 year, 5 GB, private traces Free download, no account or cloud; which i2 Pro features unlock depends on the log source
Simulators supported AMS2, AC, AC EVO, RaceRoom Any sim whose data reaches .ld format: ACC exports it natively, others need a plugin or converter
Setup effort A few minutes: sign up, run the agent, sign in once (AMS2 needs one in-game option) Install i2 plus a logger or exporter for your sim, then build or import a workspace
Background footprint Native tray agent, 1.3 MB installer, about 5 MB RAM when idle 15.6 MB i2 Standard installer (measured by us, November 2026); i2 is opened after driving, so the recording footprint is whatever logger you use
FPS impact / disk I/O No window or overlay to render; samples buffered in RAM, one compressed file written per completed lap Nothing on screen while driving; logging cost depends on the sim or tool writing the .ld file
Capture rate 60 Hz Set by the sim export or logger
Advanced physics channels Up to 57 channels; full 3-zone tyres, dampers and ride height in AMS2 (fewer in AC and AC EVO) Whatever the log contains, plus unlimited custom maths channels
AI coaching AI chat over your laps via a free MCP connector (Gemini, local LM Studio, Claude, ChatGPT): ask anything, including one-off calculations None; you read the graphs and build any extra analysis yourself
Sharing Short link that opens in any browser, with lap overlays Send the .ld file; the other person needs i2 and a matching workspace
Data export formats CSV and CSVY per lap Native MoTeC .ld / .ldx logs

Free Means Every Feature

The free plan is not a trial or a cut-down version. Every analysis feature is free, including the AI connector. PRO only changes how long detailed telemetry is stored and who can see it.

Included for free

  • Automatic 60 Hz recording in AMS2, AC, AC EVO and RaceRoom
  • Full lap analysis: every channel, lap overlays, 2D/3D track maps and sector splits
  • Personal bests, global leaderboards and comparison with other drivers' public laps
  • Share links and CSV / CSVY export
  • The AI race engineer connector
  • Lap times, sessions and personal bests are kept with no time limit

The only free-plan limits

  • Detailed telemetry traces are kept for 14 days, or 7 days for non-clean laps (PRO: 1 year). Laps in the top 10 of a track-and-car leaderboard keep their traces longer. Lap times, sessions and personal bests are kept forever.
  • 500 MB of telemetry storage, about 1,500 laps at the average lap size; space comes back as old traces expire (PRO: 5 GB).
  • Your traces are visible to other drivers (PRO can make them private).
  • AI calculations use shared server capacity; PRO requests also get reserved capacity when the service is busy.

Ask Your Own Questions

Most telemetry tools stop at graphs you interpret yourself, or at tips in a pre-set format: you get the analysis the tool was built to give, and you cannot ask a follow-up. Flowix connects the AI assistant you choose to your laps, so it answers the question you actually have and works out non-standard analysis from your data when you need it.

Questions you can ask about your own laps

  • “Why was my best lap at Spa faster than the laps I drove today?”
  • “Where do I lose time against the leaderboard leader in my car?”
  • “Am I locking the fronts into the hairpins? Walk me through my braking zones.”
  • “The outside edge of my front tyres runs hot. What could I change?”
  • “Compare my minimum speed in every corner with my best lap and rank the gaps.”
  • “Based on this week's sessions, what should I practise next?”

The AI can run its own calculations on any channel for a one-off question, so you are not limited to built-in reports. Answer quality depends on the model you connect; larger models give better coaching.

How the AI Race Engineer Works

Architecture: background recorder vs desktop analysis suite

Flowix

The Flowix agent is a small native Windows program that sits in the tray, detects a supported sim through shared memory and uploads every finished lap. There is nothing to open after a session: laps are already in your account.

MoTeC i2

i2 does not record anything itself. Data has to be logged by the sim (ACC writes .ld files natively) or by a community plugin or converter, then opened in i2 on a Windows PC.

Telemetry fidelity and channel availability

Flowix

Flowix stores a fixed set of up to 57 channels at 60 Hz. Automobilista 2 fills all of them; Assetto Corsa lacks 3-zone tyre and brake temperatures and damper velocity, and AC EVO lacks damper velocity.

MoTeC i2

i2 shows whatever is in the log at the logged rate, and lets you add your own maths channels, for example custom slip ratios or weighted tyre averages. This flexibility is its biggest strength.

Analysis workflow: browser and AI vs local files

Flowix

Analysis runs in the browser with lap overlays, 2D/3D track maps, sector splits and leaderboards. The AI connector lets your own assistant query the same data and run custom calculations in plain language.

MoTeC i2

Analysis runs locally in workspaces of graphs, histograms and scatter plots that you arrange yourself. Results are as deep as your workspace, and sharing means passing files around.

Which One Should You Choose?

When to Choose MoTeC i2

  • You need custom maths channels or your own workspace layouts.
  • You drive ACC or another sim Flowix does not support.
  • You also analyse real-car data from MoTeC loggers.
  • You want everything to stay offline on your own PC.

When to Choose Flowix

  • You race AMS2, AC, AC EVO or RaceRoom and want laps recorded with no configuration.
  • You want to open a lap on a phone or share it with a link instead of a file.
  • You want leaderboards and reference laps from other drivers.
  • You want to ask an AI assistant about your data instead of reading every graph yourself.

Our Verdict

For simple setup and for drivers new to telemetry, Flowix is the easier choice: install the agent, drive, and your laps are ready to analyse in the browser or by asking your AI assistant, with no workspaces or log files to manage.

Advanced racers get the most from using both. Let Flowix record every lap automatically and use its AI-driven analysis to spot where time goes, then open MoTeC i2 to dig into the raw numbers and custom maths channels for the corners that matter. The Flowix agent only reads shared memory, so it runs alongside your MoTeC logger without conflict.

Flowix vs MoTeC i2 FAQ

No. Flowix exports each lap as CSV or CSVY. If you rely on MoTeC workspaces, keep using your current logger for i2 alongside Flowix.

Not in the web analysis page. The AI connector can run custom JavaScript calculations over your channels on request, but there is no saved maths-channel editor like i2's.

Yes. The Flowix agent only reads the sim's shared memory, so it can run next to any other telemetry tool or logger.

Yes. Set Options, System, Shared Memory to Project CARS 2 in AMS2 once; the agent does the rest.
