How to Use Claude as Your Sim Racing AI Coach
Connect Claude to your Flowix telemetry in three minutes and simply ask in plain words: how was my lap, what should I fix, am I getting faster. No data analysis skills needed.
You don't need to read telemetry graphs to learn from them. Connect Claude to your Flowix account, ask a normal question like "How was my last lap?", and Claude does the analysis for you. It explains what it found in plain words, and you can keep asking until it makes sense.
What you need
- A free Flowix account with a few laps recorded by the Flowix agent in Automobilista 2, Assetto Corsa or Assetto Corsa EVO.
- A Claude account on a plan that allows custom connectors. Plans change often, so check Anthropic's current terms.
- About three minutes.
Step 1: Get your personal connector link
- Sign in to Flowix and open the AI page.
- Press Copy URL in the AI Lap Analysis (MCP) card. The address on the page is masked on purpose, so the button is the only way to copy the real one.
This link includes your personal key. Anyone who has it can read your laps. If it ever leaks, press Regenerate on the AI page and the old link stops working.
Step 2: Add Flowix to Claude
- Open claude.ai (or the Claude desktop app) and go to Settings → Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector.
- Name it
Flowixand paste your link into the server URL field. - Leave the advanced/OAuth fields empty: the key is already in the link. Press Add.
Connectors you add on the web also show up in the Claude desktop and mobile apps, so you can chat about your session from your phone.
Step 3: Switch it on in a chat
Start a new chat, open the tools menu (the + or sliders button under the message box) and make sure Flowix is enabled. The first time Claude uses Flowix it may ask for permission. Choose Always allow. The connector is read-only, so Claude can look at your laps but never change or delete anything.
Quick test: "What did I drive last?" If Claude names your track and car, you're ready.
Start simple: just ask about your lap
There is no special way to ask. Write the way you would talk to a friend who knows racing. Claude finds the right lap, looks at the telemetry and answers.
How was my last lap?
Where did I lose the most time today?
What is the one thing I should fix first?
Was that a clean lap or did I make mistakes?
Ask Claude to explain
Claude is a patient teacher. If you don't know a term, or you want to understand why something is slow, just ask. Where it fits, Claude uses your own laps as the example.
What is trail braking? Do I do it?
Explain understeer in simple words.
Why is braking later not always faster?
What does "carrying speed into a corner" actually mean?
Compare two laps
Two laps side by side show where a good lap is different from a normal one.
Why was my best lap faster than my second best?
How does my best lap compare with the fastest lap on the leaderboard?
Am I getting better?
Claude can read your session history and tell you how your lap times are moving over days and weeks.
Am I getting faster at Spa?
How did this week go compared with last week?
Draw a chart of my best lap in each session.
Claude creates that chart right in the chat, and you can ask it to change it.
Ask for details about one or two laps at a time. Looking deep into the telemetry of many laps at once takes Claude a long time. Lap-time questions over many sessions, like the ones above, are quick.
Getting more out of Claude
- Keep the conversation going. After an answer, ask "Why?" or "How do I practise that?". Short follow-ups work better than one long question.
- Use a Claude Project. Make a project called Sim racing and add a line about yourself, for example "I'm new to sim racing and drive with a wheel." Claude keeps that in mind in every chat inside the project.
- Come back after your next session and ask "Did it work?". Claude will look at your new laps.
