How to Use ChatGPT to Analyse Your Sim Racing Telemetry

Add Flowix to ChatGPT as a custom connector, then get quick, practical driving tips from your own laps. Developer mode setup and short example questions anyone can ask.

Telemetry tools usually expect you to know what you're looking for. With ChatGPT connected to Flowix, it's the other way round: you ask a simple question, and ChatGPT digs through your laps and comes back with something you can try on your next run.

Before you start

  • A free Flowix account and some laps recorded with the Flowix agent.
  • A ChatGPT plan that supports custom connectors through developer mode. OpenAI changes plan features often, so check what your plan includes.
  • ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com) for the setup. Afterwards the connector is available in your chats.

1. Copy your Flowix connector URL

On Flowix, open the AI page and press Copy URL. What you see on screen is masked, so use the button to get the real address.

Keep this URL to yourself, like a password. If you posted it by mistake, press Regenerate on the AI page.

2. Turn on developer mode

  1. In ChatGPT open Settings → Apps & Connectors (on some plans it's called Connectors).
  2. Open Advanced settings and switch on Developer mode.

Developer mode lets you add your own MCP servers. MCP is the open standard that the Flowix connector uses to talk to AI apps.

3. Create the connector

  1. Back in Apps & Connectors, press Create.
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Name: Flowix
    • Description: My sim racing sessions, laps and telemetry
    • MCP server URL: paste your Flowix connector URL
    • Authentication: No authentication (the key is part of the URL)
  3. Confirm that you trust the connector and press Create.

4. Pick it in a chat

Open a new chat, press + next to the message box, choose Developer mode (or More → Developer mode) and enable Flowix. ChatGPT may ask you to approve the first tool calls. Flowix only reads data, so approving is safe.

Try: "Which tracks did I drive this week?" If you see your own sessions, it works.

Questions about a single lap

Keep it short. ChatGPT works out which data to check.

Check my fastest lap from yesterday. Any obvious mistakes?

Am I braking too early anywhere?

Where could I get on the throttle sooner?

Let ChatGPT explain the basics

Not sure what the answer means? Ask. ChatGPT is happy to explain racing ideas from zero.

What does "slow in, fast out" mean?

What can a brake trace tell me?

Why do my tyres lose grip near the end of a stint?

What is a racing line, and do I follow it?

Two laps side by side

What did I do differently on my fastest lap?

How far am I from the top of the leaderboard, and where is the gap?

Track your progress

ChatGPT can look back over your sessions and tell you what the lap times say about your progress.

Give me a summary of my week.

Are my lap times getting more consistent?

Which track should I practise next?

Asking ChatGPT to dig into the telemetry of many laps in one go is slow. For the details, stick to one or two laps. For the big picture, ask about lap times and sessions.

Small habits that help

  • Use a ChatGPT project for your racing chats and add an instruction like "Keep answers short and end with one thing to practise." Every chat in the project follows it.
  • Paste a lap link. Looking at a lap on Flowix? Paste its link into the chat and ask "What do you think of this lap?".
  • Ask for a cheat sheet before you drive: "Give me three things to remember for my next session."
